Not only doesn’t it matter what “name” I or a client believe or not believe in, it’s completely irrelevant to the process. In fact, often it can get in the way. If you love angels, having a Reiki constantly talk about them is fine. However, if you particular personal belief system has a different idea hearing the word “angel” may grate and take you out of your peaceful state.
To truly get the most out of your Reiki experience, you simply need to open yourself up to whatever higher power speaks to you personally. As this is an internal process, neither you nor your Reiki need worry about distractions.
As someone performing Reiki, whatever energy, power or other entities I call on for assistance is also done internally and the only thing the client needs to know is that I am asking for help from the light only, wherever that light may come from. You won’t hear me talking about God, angels or any particular named deity. I will be getting outside help, but other than telling you what areas I’m working on, except in unusual circumstances, I find that talking about the process distracts from the experience of pure energy transformation.
The only belief I feel is crucial to a successful healing is what is most commonly referred to as karma. Not matter who you believe in/pray to, if you do not approach your life with the understanding that what you send out into the world is what you can expect to come back to you someday, then balance can never be achieved.
No one is perfect and there will be times you will have harsh thoughts, especially if someone has done you wrong at work, in traffic or in a relationship. That fleeting thought, or short period of anger is natural and human and your karma is safe. However, if you let yourself live in that dark place, if you continue to wish ill will towards other’s with no attempt to find a way to let go and forgive, if you plot revenge or continually imagine disaster and downfall for other’s then your karma will darken.
As long as you understand this concept and believe it to be true, this negative karma can be cleared away, if you are willing to let it go. It may be easily removed or, in the case of deep hurt or trauma, it can be removed over time. The key is that you have to want to let it go, if you have the clear intention of removing harmful thoughts and no longer allowing your mind to harbour them, then your flow can be cleansed. Karma like most everything in life is all about energy and intention. If you put your intention into the energy you expend and accept the light energy being given to you, healing will happen. Reiki is about an exchange, and what better exchange than removal of the dark and receipt of light.
As Sir Issac Newton said “energy is neither lost, nor destroyed. It can only be transformed from one form to another”. Your energy (or karma) exists from birth. You can’t lost or destroy one you’ve darkened, you can only transform it from dark to light. Do onto other’s as you would have them do unto you is a pretty good start down the karma path.
